So I've just graduated from post-secondary schooling after seven years with a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering. I figure while the career hunt is going on, I can put down some of my thoughts in my down time and join the rest of you fine ladies and gentlemen doing this blogging exercise.
Oh but pardon me, where are my manners? I haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Danny Nguyen, a young person interested in the field of transportation, and eventually I aim to become a transportation professional much like you, the reader. Currently I maintain a regular presence at both the NorCalITE section meetings, and I also plan on continuing to attend the university chapter meetings as well, even if I've already graduated. I attended last year's WesternITE district conference in balmy Arizona during the summer (and like the messenger bags say, survived!), and will also do so again this year in Rapid City, SD - make sure to say hello if we cross paths there!
Thus far, my plan for this blog is to post something transportation-related weekly for an entire year. It's only appropriate since Thursdays are highly associated with transportation: section meetings occur on Thursdays at noon, university chapter meetings (used to) occur on Thursdays in the evening, the inaugural Summer Transportation Academy last year - more on that later - convenes Thursday afternoons during the summer, and my latest Transportation Systems elective course met on a Tuesday/Thursday schedule at 10:30 AM.
As far as content goes, expect a plethora of opinions, ranging from curious observations of society at present, some thoughts on culture's effect on our lives, musings on ITE and the road ahead, and of course personal stories about transportation. Can't be a blog without some personal touch, huh?
Along the way I hope someone gains some insight from my blog posts.
