Call for Entries: FHWA’s Office of Safety Photo Contest

The Federal Highway Administration’s Office of Safety is holding a photo contest to highlight successful implementation of the Nine Proven Safety Countermeasures. These include:
- Roundabouts
- Corridor Access Management
- Backplates with Retroreflective Borders
- Longitudinal Rumble Strips and Stripes on 2-Lane Roads
- Enhanced Delineation and Friction for Horizontal Curves
- Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety
- Medians and Pedestrian Crossing Islands in Urban and Suburban Areas
- Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon
- “Road Diet” (Roadway Reconfiguration)
Rules and Regulations
- Photos must display successful implementation of one countermeasure and be MUTCD compliant.
- Photos must be in .jpg or tif. format.
- Photos must be a minimum of 300KB.
- Photos will become the property of the U.S. Departments of Transportation.
- Finalists' pictures will be displayed at the Federal Highway Administration’s Office of Safety’s Proven Safety Countermeasures Booth at the Transportation Research Board 92nd Annual Meeting, January 13 – 17, 2013.
- Final voting will take place at the booth during exhibit hours.
- The winner will be announced at 3:00 p.m. on January 14, 2013.
- All entries must be received by 12:00 midnight on December 28, 2012.
- Winners’ projects will be displayed on the Office of Safety Website and in the Office of Safety’s Safety Compass newsletter http://safety.fhwa.dot.gov/newsletter/safetycompass/.
