On June 20, 2019, ATC 5201 Advanced Transportation Controller Standard Version 06A (v06A) was accepted as a Recommended Standard by the Advanced Transportation Controller (ATC) Joint Committee (JC). The ATC JC is made up of representatives of the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO), the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA).

https://www.ite.org/technical-resources/standards/atc-controller/version-6/.The effective date when this “Notice of Intent to Adopt” is deemed complete as of February 21, 2020 close of business, if no appeal is received. The next and final step to adopt the standard is obtaining the approval of the ITE International Board of Direction. Under the terms of the MOU for ITS standards, the standard development process is complete for this standard, once AASHTO, ITE and NEMA have individually approved the standard.
