ITE Executive Director & CEO Jeffrey Paniati was recently the keynote speaker at the Arizona ITE/IMSA Spring Conference. In his presentation, he provided an overview of the new Fixing America's Surface Transportation (FAST), showing how the funding for this first long-term transportation bill in a decade is being allocated across highway and transit programs. The $305B for the bill providing an 11 percent increase over the next 5 years.He highlighted new freight programs being created by the Act, as well as changes to the Surface Transportation Program, which has been renamed the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program. Also during his presentation, Jeff highlighted initiatives at ITE headquarters, focusing on a a "new" ITE that is value added, recognized, relevant, and connected.
Jeff presented this information the following week to over 2,000 attendees at the Purdue Road School, an event organized by ITE member Darcy Bullock at Purdue University. Being at the Road School also gave Jeff the opportunity to connect with ITE members there and view student poster presentations.
