The
Roadway Safety Foundation (RSF) and the Federal Highway Administration
(FHWA) held the 2011 National Roadway Safety Awards Recognition Ceremony
on Tuesday, November 15, 2011. The ceremony recognized the best and
most innovative safety programs among state highway programs.
Recipients of the awards were recognized for their work in:
• Minnesota (Interstate 94 bridges, statewide and Wright County’s Road Safety Plans)
• Mississippi (Cable median barriers on I-55)
• Iowa (Jones and Linn County roadways)
• Florida (Motorcycle safety – “Ride Smart Florida”)
• Utah (3500 South Reconstruction Project)
• California (Highway Safety Improvement Plan “tool” for local roadways)
• New Mexico (Department of Public Safety, Motor Transportation Police Division, Smart Roadside Inspection Program)
• Multi States: Safety Patrol Sponsor-Partnership (Massachusetts, Florida, Pennsylvania, Georgia, New York, Maryland, Kansas)
• Texas (FM 1960 Median Improvements Program, honorable mention)
• New Jersey (Local Technical Assistance Program at Rutgers, Work Zone Safety Education Program, honorable mention)
