During Monday’s SHRP2 Reliability Products and Improving Systems Management and Operations sessions at the ITE Technical Conference, speakers presented on the topic of SHRP2 reliability products, including how such products can help in easing congestion and keep first responders safe, as well as the causes and the economics of reliability.

A presentation was given on the work being done within the Regional Operations Forums as well as the upcoming Enhanced Knowledge Transfer System (EKTS)/Operations Center of Excellence website which will serve as a one-stop-shop for all SHRP2 reliability products. Listening sessions and webinars will take place on the on EKTS now through May. Visit
http://www.tsmoinfo.org to take part. The National Transportation Operations Coalition (NTOC) will be integrated with the KTS as well, offering current NTOC users an even wider range of information on transportations management and operations.

Aside from the EKTS, specific tools were also presented, such as the WISE tool—a product of SHRP2 Project R11 which focuses on work zone and impact strategy--AASHTO’s GIS tools for public information and Project LO5 which is focused on incorporating reliability and providing guidance on performance-based planning that addresses reliability as called for by MAP21. Projects LO2, LO7, LO8 were discussed as well, along with the announcement that a TIM Training Facility in Tennessee is being created, with an anticipated start of work slated for June 2014.
