Wayne State University wins the 2013 Great Lakes District Traffic Bowl!

Congratulations to Wayne State University’s ITE student chapter who won the 2013 Great Lakes District ITE Traffic Bowl at the recent annual meeting in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  The Great Lakes District  Institute of Transportation Engineers Annual Meeting set a record attendance, topping 300 attendees, and a large audience watching suspenseful rounds of competitions, and an exciting final round.   This was the first time for Wayne State University to compete.  They will be moving on to make the trip to the ITE Traffic Bowl Grand Championship to be held in this August in Boston, Massachusetts.

In addition to Wayne State University, three other schools participated in the GLDITE’s event:

  • Purdue University
  • Trine University
  • Western Michigan University

Trine University was also a new participant, and had also just formed an ITE Student Chapter last January. Purdue and Western Michigan have both represented the District in past Grand Championships.

Thank you to all the students, members and volunteers who supported and made this event a success!

The objectives of the ITE Collegiate Traffic Bowl Program, which was started in 2009, are to encourage students to become more active members in ITE, to enhance their knowledge of the traffic/transportation engineering and planning profession and of ITE itself, and to strengthen the programs of the ITE student chapters. Since 2009, over 50 universities from around the US and Canada have competed annually in this Program.
