As the understanding and appreciation for linkages between transportation and health continues to grow, increasing attention is being paid to explicitly capturing health impacts in the transportation planning process. However, such activities are still mostly restricted to the level of individual projects or jurisdictions, due to challenges, amongst others, associated with data collection, interagency cooperation, and inconsistent development patterns across larger metropolitan regions. This webinar will present two real-world case studies of metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs), the Sacramento Area Council of Governments and MetroPlan Orlando, which have applied formal health impact tools and strategies when evaluating and shaping their long-range transportation planning efforts.
