A college friend of mine and fellow transportation engineer, Aaron Coenen, is embarking on a 2000 mile bike ride to support Ronald McDonald House Charities.  This is his second long distance bicycle ride.  Over the summer 2005, he traveled from Alaska to Florida.  I recall him lugging around a 10 pound camcorder on this trip to record his progress.  Luckily, with smart phones, updates will be much more frequent and better quality!  Since the 2005 trip, Aaron has underwent two brain surgeries to remove tumors.  Luckily Aaron has a close network of friends and family to help him through his recovery as well as lives close to treatment facilities.  Many patients have the to travel 100's of miles to get the top-notch treatments they need.  This makes Ronald McDonald House Charities so valuable as the provide one less thing for a family to worry about when receiving treatment.

Aaron's June 2016 trip will be a short 3 week journey traveling through 3 states and 3 countries.  Watch his progress on his website:  www.ride4RMHC.com and consider donating to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
