Looking for information on optimizing lane widths? Check out the following ITE resources:

Optimizing Lane Widths to Achieve a Balance of Safety, Operations, and User Needs by Hillary Isebrands, P.E., Ph.D., Tracy Newsome, Ph.D., and Frank Sullivan. This article from the March 2015 issue of ITE Journal looks at the implementation of flexible lane widths as the state and local level. Charlotte, NC and the State of Florida are case studies.

Optimizing Lane Widths: Case Studies Webinar is a live presentation based on the above mentioned article. The article's authors and others will discuss how transportation agencies, at the location and state level, have approached implementing flexible lane widths. This webinar provides a terrific opportunity to ask questions on both the article as well as the presentation.

If you are still looking for more information on this topic then take a look at the archived webinar - Optimizing Lane Widths: Does One Size Fit All?. Learn  about the FHWA perspective and risk management on applying flexibility to roadway widths with a case study from Phoenix, AZ.
