Son is a registered civil engineer with more than 10 years of experience including transportation and traffic planning, design, operations, and construction inspection. Son has also managed and worked in a nonprofit environment working directly with transportation stakeholders and actively involved in volunteer engagement.

Most recently Son served as Vice-President of Technical Programs for the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITSA). He has managed complex projects at the Federal level working on various technical programs such as decision support systems, connected and autonomous vehicles, emergency response management, traffic incident management, and multi-modal technologies.

NOCoE Board Chairman Shailen Bhatt, director of the Colorado Department of Transportation, said Son’s appointment will greatly assist in furthering the progress of the Center as a major resource for TSM&O professionals. “I speak for the board and staff of NOCoE when I say we are excited to have Patrick Son join as Managing Director. The Center has made significant strides serving as a resource for the TSM&O community since its inception in 2015. I am confident Patrick’s background and experience will serve as a platform from which the Center will continue to advance its meaningful work.”

I am excited about my new role as Managing Director with the NOCoE,” said Son. “Operations is my passion and it is my goal to make sure the Center will continue to be a reliable and valuable resource for the transportation, systems, management and operations community. I want to engage all aspects of the field of transportation in the work that NOCoE does so that it may effectively reach the entire field one day.”
