The Alliance for Biking & Walking is releasing the 2016 Bicycling & Walking  Benchmarking Report today at 2:00 p.m. ET. Download the report for free here: http://www.bikewalkalliance.org/resources/benchmarking

The Alliance publishes the biennial Benchmarking Report to collect and analyze data on bicycling and walking in all 50 states, the 52 largest U.S. cities, and a select number of midsized cities. The report combines original research with over 20 government data sources to compile data on bicycling and walking levels and demographics, safety, funding, policies, infrastructure, education, public health indicators, and economic impacts.

Each benchmarking report has improved and expanded upon the previous version. Alliance for Biking & Walking President Jeffrey Miller explained that when ITE joined the project in 2005 to help provide technical review of data, the partnership further increased the credibility of the subsequent Benchmarking Reports as a valuable resource for state and city leaders around the country.

In coordination with FHWA, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the American Public Health Association, and the Alliance for Biking & Walking, ITE is also now developing a web portal to serve  as an information resource for our members in applying the report on a daily basis. More information on this new resource will be shared as it becomes available.
