Announcing the 2016 LeadershipITE Class

On January 8, the 2016 LeadershipITE class officially kicked off at ITE headquarters in Washington, DC, USA with a 2-day workshop. Now entering its third year, LeadershipITE is a program developed to identify, develop, and engage leaders for the future of ITE and the transportation profession.

Comprised of twenty individuals, the 2016 class is unique in that it includes, for the first time, an ITE student chapter member and an ITE headquarters staff member, recognizing the value of developing both groups  as leaders in ITE and the profession. With a mix of public agency, private sector, and academic participants across 16 U.S. states and 2 provinces in Canada, the class is diverse in experience, background, geography and many other dimensions. The class list is available online at http://www.ite.org/leadership/2016.asp?CommunityKey=0c70d22f-6771-4420-bfa4-83b25a0fc234

During the weekend, the class was introduced to Marsha Anderson Bomar as the new LeadershipITE Committee Chair, with former Chair Michael Sanderson now focusing on his duties as a candidate for International Vice President in 2016. Marsha, a past International President with leadership experience across all levels of ITE, has been a strong advocate and organizer of the program along with Michael since its inception. Carrie Falkenrath was announced as the new Co-Chair of the Committee, after serving as the Alumni Secretary and Social Co-Chair since her graduation from the program.

Stay tuned to the February issue of ITE Journal for a full introduction of the 2016 class members and more details from the kick-off weekend.
