New FHWA Administrator Nominated

Gregory Nadeau has been nominated by U.S. President Barack Obama to serve as Administrator of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) when current Administrator Victor Mendez steps down. Mendez will move to a position as Deputy Secretary for the U.S. Department of Transportation. Nadeau is currently FHWA’s Deputy Administrator since 2009. 

Nadeau was in the Maine House of Representatives from 1978 to 1990. He served on several committees including Standing Committees on Transportation, Appropriations and Financial Affairs, and the House Chair of Housing and Economic Development. He was a senior political adviser to Gov. Angus King from 1995 to 2002. Some of the areas he was responsible for were transportation, energy and utilities, environmental protection and labor, and economic development. From 2002 to 2009, Nadeau sat on the Maine Turnpike Authority’s board of directors and was MaineDOT’s middleman to Maine’s congressional delegation. He has been MaineDOT’s deputy commissioner for policy, planning, and communication.
