An Interactive Game Involves Citizens in Planning

The theme of the March 2015 issue of ITE Journal is Partnerships for Better Communities, with several articles focused on how to engage citizens in the transportation planning process.

I came across an interesting article from Engaging Cities.com that explores this topic by looking at an interactive online game called Flipsides. Central Arkansas is using the game for residents to give feedback on topics such as transportation infrastructure, walkability, and funding. The game helps residents see possible outcomes of their decisions through responsive infographics.

Read the article here for examples of how the game works, and check out the tool itself at http://urbaninteractivestudio.com/flipsides/.
