Inspiration. Connections. Knowledge.

This month ITE International and the Midwestern District and Great Lakes Districts will jointly host the annual event that has become ITE’s premier immersive learning and networking experience. Our annual meeting continues to grow, and this year’s Joint ITE International and Midwestern/Great Lakes Districts Annual Meeting and Exhibit in Minneapolis, MN, USA will offer diverse networking opportunities, the best regional and international technical content, and social events showcasing
local hospitality, all within the theme—Inspiration. Connections. Knowledge.

INSPIRATION. Our industry is in a transformational time. New technologies, companies, and services are coming fast. This year’s plenary sessions focus on the challenges and opportunities that transformation brings, and we hope our speakers will inspire and engage our attendees. Opening keynote speaker Dr. Ken Smith, a 3M corporate
scientist, will offer perspectives on how a culture of innovation can inspire new product innovations. Speakers from Waze, Uber, and Nice Ride, Minnesota will discuss new
models of transportation services in our cities. And the closing plenary will offer thoughtprovoking remarks on our role in creating safe and livable communities from Christopher
Hart, former Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board and founder of Hart Solutions LLP. Attendees also will be inspired by the accomplishments recognized at the
Excellence in Transportation Awards Lunch and LeadershipITE graduation.

CONNECTIONS. Our meeting provides many opportunities to reconnect with old friends and build new relationships. The meeting will connect attendees with a broad range of local and international members and topics thanks to the collaboration between ITE International, the Midwest and Great Lakes Districts, and a team of more than 80 volunteers. Starting with our Opening Reception at U.S. Bank Stadium, social events and tours will connect attendees with the city of Minneapolis and one another. Those new to an ITE Annual Meeting will be welcomed at the First-timer/Global Members/Sponsor Reception. The popular ITE Collegiate Traffic Bowl Grand Championship will give attendees an opportunity to connect with student members as we cheer on District student teams. I encourage attendees to take advantage of the many social and networking opportunities.

KNOWLEDGE. With the technical program aligned with Pathways on Complete Streets, Connected and Automated Vehicles, Smart Communities, Transportation Systems
Management and Operations, Trip Generation, and Vision Zero, this meeting will provide attendees with the latest information they can bring back home to the communities,
firms, and agencies they serve. Our more than 55 exhibitors will showcase the latest and the best our industry has to offer and provide opportunities to learn more about products
and services. Recognizing that not everyone can travel to Minneapolis, and those who do cannot attend everything, ITE will provide session recordings—see page 19 for details.
Thank you to our Local Arrangements Committee and all the volunteers, sponsors, and exhibitors who are filling the meeting and exhibit with inspiration, connections, and
knowledge. We could not do it without you! I look forward to engaging with everyone in Minneapolis. As always, I welcome your feedback at jpaniati@ite.org, through ITE
Community, and on Twitter at @JeffPaniatiITE.
