At the 2015 ITE ANZ Section Annual Breakfast Meeting and AGM the ITE ANZ Executive was pleased to announce the winner of the 2015 Postgraduate Student Award (proudly supported by SIDRA Solutions) - in recognition of a postgraduate student from the Section (Australia and New Zealand) who has completed high quality research in the field of traffic engineering, and shows potential to make a significant contribution to the profession.
The winner of the 2015 award is Dr Rui Jiang from Queensland University of Technology who completed his PhD in 2014. His research is on ramp metering (RM) and rapid congestion recovery (RCR). A coordinated RM strategy was developed as the bench mark for RCR study. It is a multi-hierarchical structure, combining advantages of proactive and reactive control to quantify the impact of merging behaviour. Three journal articles and five refereed conference papers are published from this work. Rui also has several publications in other areas.
