ITEANZ Contribution to the Transport Profession Award 2014 Announced

This is ITEANZ’s most prestigious award and is presented to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the development of the transport/traffic engineering profession over a sustained period.

The criteria by which each nominee is assessed includes:

  • Contribution to the community through endeavour in the transport profession
  • Advancement in the practice of the transport profession
  • Contribution at a national or international level
  • The number of years active in the profession
  • Personal commitment, and
  • Standing in the industry

This year's winner of this ultimate ITEANZ professional award is Professor David Hensher. David is the Professor of Management, and Founding Director of the Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies at the University of Sydney, Australia. His particular interests are in transport economics, transport strategy, sustainable transport, productivity measurement, traveller behaviour analysis, choice analysis, stated choice experiments, process heuristics, and institutional reform.David has advised numerous government and private sector organisations throughout Australia and internationally on matters related to transportation, especially matters related to forecasting demand for existing and new transportation services. He is regarded as Australia’s pre-eminent expert on matters relating to travel demand and valuation, and transport reform.

It was a pleasure to recognise Professor Hensher with the presentation of this award at our annual Breakfast Meeting and AGM in Melbourne last week (4 February) as well as to have him present to ITEANZ members and colleagues the previous evening at RMIT in Melbourne.
