The ITEANZ Section’s ‘Emerging Professional’ award aims to recognise young transport professionals in the ITEANZ Section of District 8 (Australia and New Zealand) who have contributed to the advancement of the transport profession early in their career.
At the Annual Breakfast Meeting and AGM, the winner of the 2014 award was announced - Kenn Beer of Safe System Solutions. Kenn is a road safety engineer and transport planner with over 12 years’ professional experience. After 11 years at VicRoads (the state transportation agency in Victoria, Australia), Kenn founded his own consultancy firm Safe System Solutions Pty Ltd - a specialist road safety engineering consultancy that now has ten employees and is active in safe systems transport planning in both Australia and New Zealand.
Among other achievements while serving at Vicroads, Kenn was instrumental in the development and delivery of VicRoads’ Making Roads Motorcycle Friendly program – a technical education package for engineers and road designers. Kenn also gives regular lectures at Monash University and occasional lectures at RMIT and Victoria University on the topics of road safety engineering and motorcycle safety.
