ITE Councils: Reinvented for 2015

If you are an ITE member and/or an avid reader of the ITE Journal, you probably saw the "Inside ITE" piece in the January 2015 issue discussing the reinvention of the ITE Councils.  With the approval of the International Board of Direction in November 2014, the ITE Coordinating Council reorganized the councils in an effort to streamline the ITE councils and to address the concerns and challenges facing the council leadership.  Two major changes of note are the creation of an all-new Complete Streets Council and the consolidation of the nine technical councils into six councils, with the smaller councils organized as standing committees within them.  The diagram below shows the new structure of the councils and standing committees.

Big changes are coming to the councils and committees, including an emphasis on offering more "micro-volunteering" opportunities, the addition of younger members to council executive committees, and the expansion of the type and format of technical content provided by the councils to our members.  Have you been thinking about becoming involved in a council?  Now is the perfect time to share your time and talents!  Subscribe to the council/committee pages in which are interested to see what they are doing, ask questions, respond to discussions, share information, or volunteer to help with the many activities going on across the councils.  Your council chairs and peers need you . . . . now is the time!
